Encourage direct debit usage is an optional skill on a customer agent. When it's on, customers can make an On Demand payment (card, pay by bank, Apple Pay or Google Pay), then set up a direct debit mandate for future payments. Once the mandate is in place, future payments are collected automatically via Auto Collect.
Why use it
It's a gentle way to move customers onto direct debit without forcing it. They pay the first invoice however suits them, then opt in to automatic collection for everything after that. That means less chasing for you and fewer missed payments.
How to turn it on
Go to console.adfin.com/customer-agents, open or create an agent whose preferred payment method is On Demand, and turn on Encourage direct debit usage.
When a customer signs a mandate, you can choose whether only future payments are collected by direct debit, or whether existing payments are re-routed to direct debit too.
Settings like this apply at the agent level, and you can override them for an individual customer where you need to.
