Use On Demand if retries fail

An Auto Collect agent option that falls back to On Demand when direct debit retries fail.

Written by Angus Tylee

Use On Demand if retries fail is an option on a customer agent that collects by Auto Collect (direct debit). If all the direct debit retries fail, Adfin emails the customer an On Demand payment request so they can pay another way, such as card or pay by bank. You don't lose the payment, and the customer gets a simple way to settle up.

How retries work

You choose how many times to retry a failed direct debit, from one to three attempts. Retries run every seven working days, which is the minimum the direct debit scheme allows. There's no charge for a failed payment.

How to set it up

Go to console.adfin.com/customer-agents, open or create an agent whose preferred payment method is Auto Collect, and turn on Send On Demand request after failed retries in the Auto Collect steps.

Settings like this apply at the agent level, and you can override them for an individual customer where you need to.

Want to avoid direct debit altogether?

If you'd rather an agent never used direct debit, turn on Never use Auto Collect instead. Existing Auto Collect payments will switch to On Demand, and invoices from your connected accounting software will be sent On Demand.
