How Adfin uses the Bill to
Adfin emails the 'Bill to' contact.
Adfin does not email any other participants on the matter.
Set the Bill to before you approve the bill
Adfin picks up a bill once it's approved in Actionstep. By default, Actionstep fills the Bill to with the first client on the matter. That might not be the person you address the bill to, or the person who pays.
If someone else is paying, such as an employer, a relative, or a billing contact at your client's company, please change the Bill to to that person before you approve the bill. You can do this by clicking Change in the Charges summary.
You will then see a window with the Bill to field which you can update to another contact or company
Change the payer (Bill to) but keep the bill addressed to your client
Actionstep's standard bill templates print the Bill to's name and billing address at the top of the bill PDF. So when you change the Bill to, the bill is addressed to the new person too.
If you want the bill addressed to your client while Adfin emails someone else, change your bill template so the name and address come from a participant on the matter instead of the Bill to. For example, replace «FullName|pt=Sp__theirnamelist» with «FullName|pt=Client», and «SP_BillingAddress» with the address fields for the same participant. You can also add a line to the template such as Payable by with the Bill to name, so they recognise the bill when our email arrives.
Please edit your template in Microsoft Word. Once you have made your changes, follow Step 4: Add your Adfin payment link to your bills in Connect Actionstep to Adfin.
