Maximum transaction limits
When you sign up to Adfin, your account comes with pre-set payment limits for each payment method. These limits depend on your company type:
Sole Trader:
£2,000 (direct debit), £10,000 (card), £20,000 (pay by bank)
All other companies:
£5,000 (direct debit), £50,000 (card), £20,000 (pay by bank)
These limits are in place because different business types carry different levels of risk for each payment method.
Adjusting payment limits
You can adjust your payment limits within a pre-set range at both the account level and the customer level.
Changing limits at the account level
Go to Settings > Payments.
Adjust the transaction limits by moving the sliders for each payment method.
Changing limits at the customer level
Navigate to Customers in the sidebar.
Click on the specific customer to open their customer drawer.
Click on the 'More actions' button at the bottom of the draw, and select 'Change payment limits'.
Adjust their payment limits by moving the sliders for each payment method.
Note: these changes will only apply to that specific customer, while the global settings remain unchanged for others.
What happens if a payment request exceeds the limit?
For Auto Collect Payments (Direct Debit): You won’t be able to collect the payment automatically. Instead, you’ll see an option to send an On Demand payment request for that specific payment.
For On Demand payments: If the amount exceeds the limit and no payment methods are available, you’ll have the option to send a payment request with your bank details. Once the customer makes the payment, they can mark it as paid, and an invoice will be sent to them.
